Hi guys! This is a new section I’m making on the blog. Whenever I find the inspiration, I will post certain songs that have touched my heart. There have been lots of songs that have done this to me, and I just wanted to document them all here. Maybe we share the same emotions for the song, right? 🙂
In the recent months I have Daylight (Maroon 5), Found (Phillip Larue), Falling In Love (2NE1), and October Rain (Roy Kim) in the list of songs that were on loop on my player.

A friend (who is a die-hard kpop fan) happened to copy various kpop songs to me. I asked her to recommend me some because I mostly listen to my favorite groups only and I wanted to explore other artists too. This is how I got to know Lee Hi.
Album: First Love
Artist: Lee Hi (이하이)
I love the piano. I just adore the kind of music that comes from it, and this song is full of that. With just the first few notes of the intro, I was captivated by the mellow melody of the song.
Lee Hi’s voice is very unique, compared to most female voices that we have on the kpop scene. I happened to read about this singer in the Summer 2013 issue of Sparkling Mag, a local kpop magazine here in the Philippines. Apparently, she is a product of a reality talent show. She was not the grand winner though. Still, one record company saw the raw talent in her and gave her an offer, thus the launching of this album.
I can’t understand Korean so obviously I did not know what the song was about when I first heard it. However, what connected to me is the emotion that I felt upon listening to it. All I know is that this is a sad song. Let’s verify that conjecture by looking at the translation of the song’s lyrics:
And yeah, I was right. It is a sad song indeed. The song really becomes more meaningful once you know the lyrics.
This is a beautiful piece, and I am playing it now on repeat.
